how many of you have the radio playing for your work force?
do you think it is a good thing or a bad thing?

We have a radio by each laser and this seems to work well as the lads can choose their own station. In our fabrication shop we have a general radio with speakers and this causes endless minor hassle over which station to choose.

We have a radio playing for the workforce linked to speakers around the workshops.  We tried letting individuals bring in their own radios but sometimes the noise level was deafening.  This was counter productive and unprofessional, especially when we had visitors.

We do not have radio. I think it is distracting and looks unprofessional to visitors and causes endless arguments about program.  We have allowed MP3 players but our Health and Safety Consultants say that we are responsible for the sound volume level and there is no way of checking it.  MP3s are now banned.

I quite like John’s one radio per work station; and this is what happens evenings and weekends.

We Allow a radio in both sections of our unit, with an older workforce we don't suffer with volume or poor choice (thankfully) to be honest it would feel odd not hearing it. I am aware of some local authorities visiting mainly retail outlets such as garages and insisting they apply for a licence, one local business was recently fined so beware!
