Chair: Jack Gabzdyl
VP Sales & Marketing, SPI Lasers

Laser technology is becoming more prevalent in the manufacturing processes for many of today’s high precision components, including watches, consumer electronics, medical devices, sophisticated sensors and high resolution displays – driven by demand for miniaturisation and feature enhancements inside the products of tomorrow.  Lasers represent a unique energy source that can be highly controlled and directed to achieve the micro and nano scale features that are being increasingly required by industry.  Developments in alternative wavelengths, smaller spot sizes, and shorter pulse durations together with improved efficiency and reduced cost per output are accelerating adoption of this technology.

The flexibility of lasers is legendary and the list of applications that can be achieved is almost endless, from cutting and welding to micromachining and surface modification...new applications are being created almost daily!  Staying abreast of these developments is key to maintaining a competitive edge, and this annual workshop provides an opportunity for industrial users of laser processing, laser equipment suppliers and academic researches to share the latest innovations with delegates. If you have a challenging application and are considering using lasers then this event provides an excellent opportunity to find out more!

[For your information: on Tuesday 13th September there is a Future Photonics Hub Industry Day at the University of Southampton (details here) should you wish to attend both events.]
