ABOUT THIS MEETING

Although the current political and economic climate in the UK holds a lot of uncertainty, there is a healthy future for the job shop sector.  Manufacturing with lasers is efficient, flexible and fast – and sharing information with other businesses in the same sector allows the AILU Job Shop Group to assist business owners to improve their performance.  This annual meeting is open to members and non-members and continues a tradition of addressing issues to improve performance in the sub-contract market.  Three particular themes are addressed in the meeting this year:

  • Understanding the latest technology on machines and applications to grow your business
  • Saving money through prudent procurement and effective R&D tax claims
  • Making the most of your online marketing and avoiding wasted spend

The meeting is hosted by BOC, a member of the Linde Group, at their Wolverhampton site.  BOC provides process and lasing gases for the laser material processing market as well as for a wide range of industrial and medical users.  At the end of the meeting, there will be an opportunity to tour BOC, with a choice of either:

  • Touring the gas cylinder test shop where cylinders are inspected, measured, cleaned and painted.
  • Visiting the Manufacturing Technology Centre for an interactive live demonstration of cryogenic gases and an overview of next generation cylinders and Industry 4.0.
