Introduction
Much progress has been made over the past decade in the commercial success of ultrashort pulse lasers (pico and femto) as well as shorter wavelength lasers (green and UV). Fibre laser technology has made these sources more reliable and more cost-effective. At the same time a number of micromachining, surface engineering and cold micro cutting applications are being used in mass production. The global market for ultrashort laser systems significantly exceeds USD 1 Billion and the number of units installed annually is now between 3,000 and 5,000 units per year.
Modern ultrashort pulse lasers have high average power and very high repetition rates, providing unique challenges for beam delivery – to deliver millions of pulses per second over a large area requires very fast and accurate scanning and beam imaging technologies.
Whether in the area of additive or subtractive material processing, systems and source prices are falling rapidly due to overcapacity of manufacture and efficiencies of scale. Simultaneously feature sizes continue to get smaller and are moving from micro to nano scale.
This webinar will bring you up to speed on the latest applications, sources and beam delivery solutions for processing a wide range of materials from metals to ceramics, polymers to glass.
