City Engineering (Bristol) – new Trumpf cutting system

A Trumpf user of many years standing, City has just installed a new flat-bed cutting system with a 5kw power source and a 4 x 2 metre cutting bed. This is the first new generation machine available for sub-contract work in the South West of England and offers all the advantages of thicker materials (eg 25mm mild steel), faster cutting speeds and enhanced product quality. City Engineering is not just a laser job shop simply providing laser profiles. A long established engineering company, its Sheet Metal/Fabrication Shop is fully equipped with new and large capacity CNC punching, bending (4 metres long) and welding facilities. Profiled blanks can therefore be processed into completed components , assembled, finished and delivered. Staffed by experienced engineers, advice is freely available on cost-effective manufacture and the company is geared up for prototyping and development as well as production batches. Apart from sub-contract laser profiling, City's main clients operate in the defence, semi-conductor and engineering industries. More details are to be found on City's web site. At www.cityengineering.com.

City Engineering was established 60 years ago and is still family owned and run under the chairmanship of Job Shop Committee member, Dr Robert Davies. The company is continuing a policy of structured expansion. The past few years have seen the expenditure of almost £1million on capital equipment and additional premises have just been acquired bringing the total production area up to 34000 square feet.
