TRUMPF participates in the Science Tunnel Exhibition in Brussels

The Trumpf Group and the Berthold Leibinger Stiftung participated in the Max Planck Society's "Science Tunnel" for the first time. Their contribution was an exhibit showing what industrial laser technology is capable of today. The exhibition ran in Brussels from 8 to 28 March 2007. Further venues include Johannesburg, South Africa, in May 2007 and Seoul, South Korea in October. The goal of the exhibit is to promote the top levels of research in Germany and to give the general public a closer look into the fascinating world of science.

The exhibit module from Trumpf and the Berthold Leibinger Stiftung demonstrated to visitors just how large an impact laser technology has on everyday life. In addition to practical examples from the areas of sheet metal processing, medical technology and electronics, the module explained the principles of laser technology and present outstanding research and development results achieved by the prize winners of the Berthold Leibinger Innovationspreis. Demonstrations included the interaction of light and matter, the use of lasers in microprocessing and lung operations and a new microscopy process for studying life processes within living cells. Like the other modules in the "Science Tunnel," extensive background information on these contributions can be found at www.sciencetunnel.de.
