JUMBO to make its first appearance in the UK

The UK will soon to be home to a massive £1.25 million tube processing machine. Twelve container lorries will be needed to transport the component parts of the BLM ADIGE JUMBO Lasertube cutting centre to Tubes (UK) Ltd's site at Warley in the West Midlands. Once installed, the aptly-named JUMBO Lasertube will process round tube up to 500 mm diameter and 18.5 metres in length.

This will be the fourth JUMBO Lasertube to be installed world-wide and the first to be installed in the UK. Commenting on this latest order, Paul Lake, Managing Director of Ampthill-based BLM GROUP UK Ltd, says the new machine "represents a significant investment by Tubes (UK) and one that epitomises its willingness to invest in new tube processing technology to keep pace with customer requirements."

With the capacity to stock more than 5000 tonnes of hot and cold formed hollow section material, ISO 9001:2000-accredited Tubes (UK) is a leading supplier to the construction industry, railways and shipyards. It also supplies round, square and rectangular hollow sections to manufacturers of heavy-duty trucks, earthmoving equipment, agricultural machinery and machine tools.
