Newport Announces the ProLite® Xt CorvusTM High Brightness Fiber Coupled Bar

ProLite® Xt CorvusTM High Brightness Fiber Coupled BarNewport Corporation's Spectra-Physics® Lasers Division today unveiled ProLite® Xt CorvusTM high brightness fiber coupled bars. The new Corvus series provides the industry’s highest brightness from a single bar solution, delivering more than 35 W of output power from a 100 µm fiber.

“For years Spectra-Physics has provided the scientific and industrial communities with state-of-the-art diode lasers, and our new ProLite Xt Corvus fiber coupled bars are yet another example of our commitment to delivering unmatched reliability, performance, and robustness to our customers,” said Patricia Browne, Product Marketing Manager for Newport’s Spectra-Physics Lasers Division.  “We believe that the inherent advantages of these diode lasers make them an ideal solution for applications such as advanced fiber laser pumping and direct material processing.  They are also an excellent choice for many customers developing solutions for the aerospace and defense, and life and health science markets.”

The Corvus series leverages technical advancements in bar geometry design and beamshaping technology to efficiently fiber couple single diode laser bars. A low numerical aperture, small-diameter, single-core fiber provides a high intensity, high brightness

3 MW/cm2-sr output.  In order to ensure maximum flexibility, the passively-cooled
ProLite Xt Corvus lasers support a wide wavelength range of 790 – 980 nm.

In addition, the field serviceable fiber design minimizes downtime for fiber pumping, plastics welding, and other material processing applications where serviceability is critical.
