SPI Lasers to Speak on Fiber Laser Applications at PICALO 2008, Beijing

SPI Lasers, a leading designer and manufacturer of fiber lasers, today announced that it will be presenting at the forthcoming PICALO 2008 conference in Beijing China on 16-18th April. Dr. Jack Gabzdyl, Line Manager for SPI’s pulsed lasers and Dr. Lu Ming, Business Support Manager for China, will be presenting papers to demonstrate SPI Lasers knowledge and expertise in a number of new applications. Including ‘Colour Marking of Metals with Fiber Lasers’, Micro Processing with High Repetition Rate Pulsed Fiber Lasers’ and ‘Applications of Fiber Lasers in Solar Cell Manufacturing’.

Dr Jack Gabzdyl commented, ‘PICALO 2008 will enable SPI Lasers to demonstrate the knowledge and expertise we have gained over the years since the company’s formation in 2000. One of the key areas that we are focusing on at PICALO 2008 is the advances that fiber lasers are bringing to the solar energy industry. As the search for reusable and clean energy sources leads to a rapid expansion of this market, pressure is put upon the manufacturing techniques to ensure lowest costs & highest productivity. SPI can make a difference with the versatility of its fiber lasers. Fiber Lasers are extremely versatile at cutting, welding, scribing, brazing, soldering, micromachining and thin film patterning.’
SPI pulsed fiber lasers are already used commercially for a wide range of marking and machining applications including metal marking, plastic marking, silicon cutting, solar cell scribing, ITO removal, resistor trimming, foil drilling, general layer ablation and cleaning. In addition, SPI’s high power fiber laser systems are used in a wide range of material processing applications including cutting, precision welding, bending, bonding, drilling, rapid prototyping, annealing, marking and graphic image processing.

Presented by Laser Institute of America (LIA) in cooperation with the Laser Processing Committee of China Optical Society and Tsinghua University, the 3rd Pacific International Conference on Applications of Lasers and Optics (PICALO) will host its first International Enterprise Summit. The conference takes place April 16-18, 2008 in Beijing, China. As members of the Laser Institute of America (LIA), SPI are keen to promote the uses and benefits of Lasers in manufacturing processes and PICLAO 2008 provides an appropriate platform
