New laser factory in the USA

To expand production of laser resonators and maintain its leadership in state of the art laser technology, Trumpf Inc., has opened a new research and manufacturing facility in Farmington USA. This new Laser Innovation and Technical Excellence (LITE) Building will add nearly 8,000 sq metres to the existing campus. Of that 5,000 sq. metres will be devoted to production and over 500 sq. metres to a cleanroom for the manufacture and testing of CO2 and solid state resonators.

The LITE Building will also house a research laboratory and laser development centre and become the base for the company’s laser marking application and sales group. Approximately 120 employees will staff the new facility and the cost of the development was $29 million. “This new building means much more than just more space,” said Rolf Biekert, President and CEO of Trumpf Inc. “It is a concrete example of our long term commitment to the market and the development of new products and opportunities for all of us.”

Trumpf Inc. is a subsidiary of the Trumpf Group, the world leader in industrial laser production. In Connecticut Trumpf manufactures precision laser cutting and punching machinery some of which is supplied to the UK. In the last fiscal year the company’s sales revenues grew to $366 million in North America; $16.5 million was reinvested in R&D.
