International visitors at Waterjet Centre

Delegates at the International Conference on Water Jetting in Nottingham were delighted by their visit to our Waterjet Machining Technology Centre.

“They were very impressed” said Dr Janet Folkes. “We had comments like ‘most universities don’t have such new, cutting edge equipment’ and several wanted to follow up when they returned home”.

Dr Folkes chaired a session at the biennial conference, which was supported by EMDA, and gave a presentation on waterjet peening of titanium. Other presentations were made by delegates from USA, Japan, Sweden, Germany, Spain, India, Italy, Canada, Brazil, Czech Republic, and fellow NIMRC co-investigator Professor Phil Shipway. “Delegates were also very impressed by the NIMRC brochure, saying that it was unusual for a University to provide information tailored for industrialists,” said Prof Shipway.
