Spectra-Physics' New Ultrafast Amplifiers Extend Performance to Lead the Industry

Newport Corporation's Spectra-Physics Lasers Division introduces an expanded portfolio of ultrafast laser products, including two high performance, ultrafast amplifiers, the 4W Spitfire® Pro XP and the 3.5W Solstice®. Also two additional laser systems for scientific applications, a nanosecond-pulsed optical-parametric-oscillator and a high-repetition-rate, one-box dye laser, were launched. The new 4W Spitfire Pro XP ultrafast regenerative amplifier outputs <35fs pulses at an industry-leading 4W average power at 1, 5 or 10 kHz. The new 3.5W Solstice one-box ultrafast amplifier generates 3.5W average power at 1, 5 or 10 kHz. With exceptional beam quality and superior pulse intensity, these new ultrafast amplifiers are ideal for advanced scientific applications, such as time-resolved spectroscopy, terahertz generation, coherence control, and high-harmonic generation.

"We are pleased to announce our ultrafast laser advancements with these new best-in-class systems. Spectra-Physics' continued innovations in ultrafast lasers enable researchers to further their important work in chemistry, physics and biology," says Herman Chui, Senior Director of Product Marketing for Newport Spectra-Physics Lasers Division. He adds, "We look forward to unveiling these new products at Photonics West, where we will also be demonstrating our recently-introduced Spectra-Physics Mai Tai® eHP DeepSee™ ultrafast laser, featuring the highest peak power for maximum fluorescence signal in biological imaging applications."

Newport Spectra-Physics is also announcing two other lasers for scientific applications: the Scan Series OPO, a compact, nanosecond-pulsed, optical-parametric-oscillator with a high-pulse-energy tuning for spectroscopy applications, and the Allegro high-repetition-rate, one-box dye laser for laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) imaging applications in turbulent flow and combustion research.
