Rofin-Baasel receives Intel?s preferred quality supplier award

Rofin-Baasel has received Intel Corporation’s Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award recognizing their significant contributions to Intel in 2008. Rofin-Baasel supplies Intel with laser mark equipment, deemed essential to Intel’s success. Rofin-Baasel and 25 additional suppliers are recognized as 2008 PQS award winners.

“It is an honour for Rofin-Baasel being selected once again to receive Intel’s Preferred Quality Supplier award, which is a testament of the excellent cooperation between Intel and Rofin-Baasel,” commented Gunther Braun, president and CEO of Rofin-Baasel. “The ROFIN-BAASEL team is very proud of receiving this award and we are looking forward to a continued successful partnership.”
“Congratulations to Rofin-Baasel for achieving back to back PQS awards. Intel applauds their 2008 efforts in continuing to drive value-added improvements on their laser mark performance. We are very appreciative of their commitment to quality and of their continued effort to achieve this honour,” said Ron Rinfret, Assembly Capital Equipment Development director, Intel Corporation.

The PQS award is part of Intel’s Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) program that encourages suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. To qualify for PQS status, suppliers must score 80 percent on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, delivery, technology and responsiveness goals. Suppliers must also manage and deliver on a challenging improvement plan and a quality/business systems assessment. Furthermore, the 2008 awardees had to demonstrate basic compliance to the Electronic Industry Code of Conduct and Intel’s Green Sustainability Program. Additional information about the SCQI program is available at http://supplier.intel.com/quality/scqi.htm.

Celebrations will be held in Tokyo, Japan and Santa Clara, California during the month of March 2009 to honour the PQS award winners. In addition, there will be an online advertisement launch and acknowledgement on Intel’s website.
