Trumpf appoints new technical director

A founding member of Trumpf UK Ltd., Roger Butcher has recently retired from the post of Technical Director. Replacing him is a man who brings massive experience to the role and not just in the field of service.

Scott Simpson has spent the majority of his career with Trumpf. However, although he was initially employed as a service engineer, within months he became the Area Sales Manager for Scotland. In 2000 he was promoted to General Sales Manager, a post he held for six years before becoming Managing Director of Trumpf India. Under Scott’s command this company moved to a purpose-built facility with a turnover of 12 Million Euro and a workforce of 50 people, all within the space of just two years.

Scott’s new role as Technical Director in the UK is to deliver continuous evaluation, improvement and expansion of the services Trumpf offers. The scope extends from machine and software contracts through to tooling, spares and consumables.

“I’m seeking to build a one-stop-shop for every support mechanism our customers need to improve their productivity,” Scott explains. Naturally a highly efficient service base is a critical element of that. He continues, “Providing a fast response service is vital in today’s supply chain. It’s our job to minimise downtime to ensure the Trumpf customer continues to provide the best possible service to his customer.”
