New team member and new USA facility for Winbro Group Technologies

Winbro Group Technologies is delighted to announce the recent appointment of Mr. Robb Hudson to the team. Robb will fulfil the role of Vice President, North America and play a key part in the launch of Winbro’s new technology and development center which will be based in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

Robb brings with him many years of experience from his previous senior positions at Huffman Corporation, manufacturers of equipment for 5 axis machining of turbine components, Lasag AG, a Swiss Nd:YAG laser manufacturer and most recently DMG America, where Robb had responsibility for Sauer Lasertec laser machines.

The opportunity for Robb to become part of a manufacturing solutions company serving the Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine industries was the next logical step in an already distinguished career. Robb joins with a former colleague from Sauer Lasertec Richard Baxter, who also recently joined Winbro Group and is based at the main manufacturing plant in the UK. Between them they share over 30 years of experience in the laser drilling business. Robb will lead North American activities for capital equipment; technology development projects and manufacturing offload for blades, vanes, combustors and other turbine components requiring cooling holes.

Winbro Group Technologies is a world leader in cooling hole technology for aero and land based turbine engines. With its headquarters in the UK, Winbro serves customers in 16 countries across the world – supplying EDM, Laser and ECM equipment together with related engineering and after market services. Winbro’s WAM (Winbro Advanced Machining) operation is ISO9001, AS9100 and Nadcap approved for non-conventional machining.

Established in 2007, WAM provides process and technology development along with manufacturing offload capacity to its customers. WAM’s success in the UK has necessitated the establishment of a USA based operation as well as further expansion within the UK.

Robert Folwell – Managing Director of Winbro Group Technologies commented “We couldn’t be more pleased with the talented group of industry experienced people that have recently joined Winbro. With the addition of Robb Hudson our team is now ready to launch our new site in the Charlotte area. We expect to have equipment on the floor and working on customer projects by early fall.”

We also take the opportunity to express our thanks to John Stackhouse for his valued contribution to Winbro, extending back over 40 years.
