Lasermet - New flatfood screens provide laser protection

The New Flatfoot, Laser Blocking Screen is the latest of Lasermet’s laser blocking screens to hit the market providing protection from stray laser radiation.

Already installed in the UK, these lightweight, semi-permanent screens are easily positioned by two people to provide a safe working environment.

The screens measuring 2m tall x 1.55m wide are just 25mm thick and still block high powered lasers due to the laser blocking material within the screen.

They have flat feet to eliminate any trip hazard and are a smart, easily adaptable, modular design that provides a professional clean appearance for laboratory environments. Finished in a white powder-coating on both sides, the screens form walls using the easily assembled, right-angled or straight-line connectors.

Protecting Employees and Third Parties
Most Class 4 and many Class 3B lasers present an eye hazard over long distances and it is therefore imperative to have comprehensive laser safety protection in place wherever they are present. Laser radiation must be prevented from escaping through the windows of laboratories and production facilities. Ordinary curtains or screens are rarely capable of stopping a laser beam and specially-designed blocking products are required. Similarly, production facilities utilising Class 1 lasers which are Class 4 under service conditions require ceiling-mounted curtains or free-standing screens made from a suitable material to allow other work to continue safely in the same room during service.

To fulfil these needs Lasermet offers laser users a full range of laser-blocking free-standing screens, curtains and roller blinds. These are designed for use as passive guards to enclose an area where Class 3B or Class 4 lasers are in use either to protect against accidental exposure to the laser beam or for long term blocking of laser radiation at lower power densities. They have all been developed by Lasermet specifically to provide the most cost-effective and high-quality solutions to virtually all laser-blocking requirements.

All Lasermet laser-blocking products are CE marked and certified to EN 60825-4 (Safety of Laser Products Part 4: Laser Guards).
