SPI Lasers announces new range of multi kW Fiber lasers

12th April 2013, Southampton, UK, SPI Lasers, a leading designer and manufacturer of fiber lasers announces the launch of a new range of high power multi kW fiber lasers designed for the industrial MACRO materials processing market. The lasers will be launched at LASER World of Photonics Munich, Germany, on the 13th May 2013.

SPI’s new kW class products extend the range of the redPOWER CW fiber lasers from 1kW up to 3kW. The redPOWER K1 1000 is available as either a high beam-quality single-mode 1kW laser source or as a multimode laser, which together with the higher power redPOWER K1 2000 and redPOWER K1 3000 products, can be configured with output process fibers from 50μm to 600μm diameter.

A unique design feature of the multimode laser products is an innovative beam combiner that enables a plug and play capability for both the individual laser input source units and the output process fiber. With the real-time power-control system providing superior stability and control capability, high modulation bandwidth and hardened back reflection tolerance by design, the laser performance sets a new benchmark for processing of both bright metals as well as standard steel materials.

The pluggable combiner eliminates the need for a transport fiber and enables straightforward selection of the most appropriate beam quality for the intended application. Rapid replacement of both process fiber and laser source units significantly reduces machine downtime without the need for specialized field service equipment.

SPI’s redCONTROL™ laser control system technology enables straightforward integration with machine and factory floor control systems, with a wide range of control interface options. An integrated programmable waveform generator can be controlled by internal cutting or welding applications software or synchronized with external hardware controllers.

The new products will be undergoing extensive applications trials through the summer with commercial release scheduled for October 2013.

Andy Appleyard, Product Line Manager for SPI’s High-Power Fiber Lasers says, “We are excited by the capability of extending our product reach into the industrial macro material-processing market. With our new range of kW class redPOWER fiber lasers we have introduced several innovative and application driven features, which we are confident will be extremely well received by our integrators and their end user customers. We believe the lasers will set a new benchmark in terms of parametric performance and ease of use.”

SPI Lasers announces new products at the LASER World of Photonics Munich, May 2013

Multi kW fiber lasers
SPI Lasers announces a new range of high power multi kW fiber lasers. The redPOWER K1 1000 is available as either a high beam quality single mode 1kW laser source or as a multimode laser which together with the redPOWER K1 2000 and redPOWER K1 3000 products can be configured with output fibers from 50µm to 600µm diameter. The lasers have novel approaches in field serviceability and configuration and offer excellent stability even when processing highly reflective materials given the novel optical architecture. www.spilasers.com for more information or visit us at LASER World of Photonics, Munich, Hall C2/406

redENERGY G4 EP Series
SPI launches a new EP series of 20W pulsed lasers offering significantly extended performance over its existing range. These represent the most versatile fiber laser sources with 40 optimized pulse waveforms in the 3-500ns range with enhanced pulse energy and peak power performance. These lasers are available in 3 different beam qualities from single mode to low moded <2 M2, enabling performance to be matched to specific marking and micro-machining applications. The EP series delivers users with unrivalled flexibility from a single unit. www.spilasers.com for more information or visit us at LASER World of Photonics, Munich, Hall C2/406

redENERGY G4 RM Series
For basic marking applications SPI is introducing a new 20W RM-Z and a 70W RM-Z fiber lasers with higher pulse energy and improved beam quality. These lasers offer a 1mJ pulse energy with >12kW peak power, a beam quality of <1.6 M2 and an operating frequency range of 1-200kHz. These lasers also benefit from a standard 3 year warranty, a rugged IP54 rated beam delivery cable and a range of collimated beam diameter outputs. The 20W RM-Z is ideally suited to a broad range of metallic and plastic marking applications, while the 70W RM-Z enables higher productivity for general marking, high speed marking, micro cutting and deep engraving. www.spilasers.com for more information or visit us at LASER World of Photonics, Munich, Hall C2/406

redENERGY G4 Water cooled lasers
SPI offers a water cooled option on some of its redENERGY pulsed fiber lasers such as its 20W HS-S model for specialist applications where air cooling can be problematic, such as fan noise. Water cooling provides more compact and lighter sources that also benefit from improved stability. Laser processing systems that are deployed in clean-room applications where fans are considered undesirable as they add heat to the environment and potentially blow dust. Laser processing stems requiring multiple laser sources can also benefit from the size and the improved thermal management offered by water cooling. www.spilasers.com for more information or visit us at LASER World of Photonics, Munich, Hall C2/406

redENERGY G4 50W & 70W
SPI launches a new range of high power pulsed fiber lasers offering enhanced capability and productivity for marking and micro-machining applications. The range features; a single moded 50W source with an M2 <1.3, 0.7mJ max pulse energy and >9kW peak power. This laser is targeted at micro cutting, scribing, deep engraving and micro-machining. There is also a 70W high moded M2 ~3.0, 1.25mJ max pulse energy and >20kW peak power. In addition to general marking applications this laser is particularly suited for deep engraving, dark marking and paint removal. www.spilasers.com for more information or visit us at LASER World of Photonics, Munich, Hall C2/406

Cleaning Kit
Clean optics have always been an essential requirement to obtain the best from any laser. The SPI Cleaning Kits enable users to clean in situ the specific beam delivery optics supplied with all of SPI’s lasers. Complete with a USB microscope and integral illumination the kit simplifies the detection and elimination of hazardous contamination. www.spilasers.com for more information or visit us at LASER World of Photonics, Munich, Hall C2/406
