Safety first: ALLTEC receives a mention for its high security status

Selmsdorf, February 2013 – The ALLTEC GmbH, international manufacturer of laser systems with headquarters in Selmsdorf, Germany, received a mention for achieving the Highly Protected Risk status of the insurance company FM Global on January 24th 2013. ALLTEC received this distinction because of its considerable provision regarding safety-related business risks and the significant reduction of the contingency risk for its international customers.

At the company headquarters in Selmsdorf, Germany, ALLTEC develops and manufactures precision systems for laser marking and engraving for its international customers. To protect both the site as well as the entire company and to guarantee delivery assurance, ALLTEC has invested in safety on a large scale during the last years. For that reason the laser manufacturer recently received a mention for achieving the Highly Protected Risk (HPR) status from the American industrial property insurance company FM Global.

The ALLTEC GmbH has assured its property and industrial fire risk with FM Global, an insurer specialized in engineering-driven ownership protection. FM Global confers the HPR status on a company when it has adopted all necessary safety measures which reduce the risk of property loss. Risks such as devastating fires, storms or extended elemental damages which could damage and destroy company material assets. Companies with HPR status benefit from a significantly reduced damage risk and they excel as reliable and trustable suppliers to their customers.

At the very outset ALLTEC analyzed the existing risk potential together with the experienced experts of FM Global. Following this, the necessary organizational and structural measures for reducing the general damage risk have been developed conjunctly and implemented step-by-step by ALLTEC:
• the installation of a sprinkler for the company site in Selmsdorf including a sprinkler centre and an extinguishing tank with a volume of 430 cubic meters > total costs: approx. EUR 560,000
• the installation of an argon fire extinguishing system for the server room > total costs: approx. EUR 40,000
• the creation of an industrial fire prevention and contingency plan
• the qualification and advanced training of several fire prevention assistants

With the implementation of these and further safety measures, ALLTEC has managed to reach the highest degree of fire safety so that extensive damages can almost be excluded in the future. Hence, the company places confidence in the strategy of fighting the causes of risk instead of fighting the symptoms. This leads to a significantly reduced risk of a loss of production and associated supply shortages and finally to the corporate success of ALLTEC, FOBA and its worldwide customers and partners.

With the receipt of the HPR status, ALLTEC did not complete the implementation of safety-extending measures. Another component of this continuing process is the certification of ALLTEC as a so-called known consignor what leads to the setup of an especially stable, interrupt-protected supply chain. This step is expected to be finalized in cooperation with the German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt during this year.
