ROFIN at BLECHEXPO

Hamburg, Germany / Thun, Switzerland, October 29, 2013: From 5 to 8 November 2013, the doors opened at BLECHEXPO, the international trade fair for sheet-metal working, in Stuttgart, Germany. ROFIN Macro and ROFIN-LASAG presented a wide range of laser-based products.

ROFIN Macro – The Power Of Light
The ROFIN Macro Group offers a wide range of high-power lasers, from sealed-off CO2 lasers to multi-kilowatt fiber lasers. The low maintenance, diffusion-cooled CO2 Slab Laser leads the multi-kilowatt range. This product is integrated into cutting lines and welding systems all over the world. Our high-power fiber lasers are used for all application fields, where shortwave (1 µm) radiation is advantageous and the flexible beam guidance with fiber optics is required. Q-switched, solid-state lasers complement the laser solutions. The product portfolio is rounded off by intelligent system technology for scanner and remote welding as well as for the welding of tubes and profiles.

Easy Integration – the Fiber Laser FL 030 C

At BLECHEXPO 2013, ROFIN Macro presented the most powerful fiber laser in the compact class, the ROFIN FL 030 C, which has been specially developed for direct integration into existing machine concepts. With an output power of 3,000 W, the FL 030 C is available as a multi-mode laser with a 50 µm or 100 µm fiber. With its typical beam qualities of 1.8 and 3.5 mm x mrad and the modular and robust design, the ideal tool for laser cutting but also for laser welding applications. By using the different diameters of the process fiber, the beam quality can be ideally adapted to the specific application task. The compact version of the ROFIN FL Series is also offered with 500, 750, 1,000 and 2,000 W output power, which covers the complete range of applications for processing thin materials.

The ROFIN fiber lasers are extremely compact, robust, highly efficient and meet the requirements of harsh industrial environments thanks to the modular and robust design.

CO2 Slab Laser with New Features
At the fair, ROFIN presented its well-established CO2 Slab Laser, the ROFIN DC 040 with 4,000 W output power, as an integration module. As of now, this laser can easily be integrated into existing machine concepts without housing due to its closed optical path. Furthermore, the entire DC Series is now provided with the “Rofin Control Unit” (RCU), so that all products from the MACRO Group are equipped with the same control platform and comparable interface. Extended monitoring and control functions are now included on the new control, resulting in improved pulse-to-pulse stability, manifold control and log functions including E-Service.
ROFIN’s low-maintenance CO2 Slab Lasers are extremely service-friendly thanks to the principle of diffusion cooling. The laser operates with only a few extremely durable components and does not need conventional gas recirculation – leading to a considerable reduction of maintenance and the gas consumption is also minimized. Furthermore, the energy saving standby operation leads to minimal energy consumption.

ROFIN’s CO2 Slab lasers with output powers up to 8,000 W are in use at manufacturing sites all over the world. The excellent reliability, low maintenance, and superior beam quality attract customers from a variety of industries and regions.

ROFIN-LASAG – Swiss Tradition for Worldwide Precision
Fiber Laser as OEM Version – LASAG LFS 150 OEM

On the BLECHEXPO, ROFIN-LASAG presented the 150 W long pulse fiber laser system LFS 150 OEM in a 19" rack version as a further development of the successful LFS 150. This OEM version was build due to the large demand for specific installation options. The pulsed fiber lasers in the LFS series are available as a single-mode (SM) or multi-mode (MM) system. The air-cooled systems meet the requirements of flexible industrial production, specifically in medical technology, are equipped with the modern industrial interfaces. Control and operation are based on the ROFIN platform “RCU” and can be maintained via a “remote” service. The system allows pulse durations up to 50 ms and therefore it is suitable for a wide range of high quality applications.

Using a fast pulse modulation for pulse forming, metallurgical pulses can be used with problematic metals or metal combinations to achieve a significantly improved welding quality.
The LFS Laser exhibits extremely high electrical efficiency and is generally maintenance-free. The LFS system allows customers with flexible production requirements to switch between long pulse and pulse modulation.

ROFIN-LASAG offers extensive application expertise in using the LFS laser system to solve customer problems.

Innovative Rotating Optic System – the LLDROP
For welding of two workpieces positioned centrically or concentrically to each other, ROFIN-LASAG developed with the rotating optic system LLDROP a customized beam guidance system. The rotating processing head is ideal for point, seam and segment welding of circular welds even in serial production. Workpieces will be fixed on transfer lines for example and will be guided to processing station where they will be welded with a rotation speed between 5 and 300 rpm. Of cause the leave of the rotary axis within the CNC machine, production will be much more efficient and cost effective. Further transportation for workpieces are indexing tables, monorail or tablet systems. The rotating processing head also offers the possibility to weld different diameters at different angles: Currently possible are 45°, 30° and 15° and diameter ranges from 0-27 mm, 25-47 mm and 45-67 mm.
