Youth and experience a winning combination for Hutchinson Engineering

Mark Hutchinson named Young Businessperson of the year at Belfast Telegraph Business Awards in association with British Airways

Leading laser cutting specialists Hutchinson Engineering are once again top of the pile with their Managing Director, Mark Hutchinson, named as this year’s Young Businessperson of the Year at a gala awards dinner held in the Culloden Hotel on Thursday 27th March.

Mark, who took over the running of the family business in 1998, was named as the Belfast Telegraph Business Award’s Young Businessperson which was sponsored by Selective Travel Management, in recognition of the fact that at just 35 he has driven the company to become a market leader in their field despite the challenging economic climate.

Commenting on the win, Mark Hutchinson, Managing Director, Hutchinson Engineering said, “This award is a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of my team. I may be at the helm of the company, but it would not be as successful as it is without the dedication and commitment of all involved.

“We all share the same passion and drive to deliver for our customers and while I and the team around me might be young in some eyes, our experience and track record of delivering stand for themselves.”

The company, recently launched a specialist division, Hutchinson AeroTech with the aim of becoming a leader in the machining and supply of stainless steel and titanium processing for the aerospace sector and the group also includes H360 Ltd an innovative design engineering provider.

Established in 1971 and with over 80 employees, the leading supplier of quality laser cutting and fabrication services has gone from strength to strength through a serious of strategic diversifications which now sees it working with customers in the agriculture, construction, energy, medical and transport sectors.

The judges said, “Mark Hutchinson’s commitment and energy since taking over at SJC Hutchinson Engineering has been exemplary. The company employed four employees in 1997 they now employ 83. Mark has continued to drive the company with great passion and as a result it has grown from strength to strength.

“His contribution to business activity in Northern Ireland has not gone unnoticed with his participation in programmes and iniatives with other companies and indeed with the local colleges.”

Hutchinson Engineering has invested in cutting-edge technology and a highly trained and motivated team to ensure that each customer receives the highest standards of quality and service.
