Hutchinson Engineering win award for Best Subcontractor - Forming and Fabrication

SJC Hutchinson Engineering once again proved themselves on the UK stage with a win at the MWP manufacturing awards this week. The leading subcontract laser and metal fabrication firm were awarded the title of MWP manufacturing awards Best Subcontract – Forming and Fabrication at a ceremony in Birmingham attended by the UK’s foremost manufacturers and engineers.

The award recongises the strength and depth of a company which has invested heavily in technology and staff skills to provide the complete metal manufacturing solution through laser cutting, folding, fabrication, kitting and state-of-the-art 3D design services.

Now employing over 80 staff across two sites in Antrim and Kilrea, Richard Hutchinson, Operations Director of SJC Hutchinson Engineering was delighted to pick up the award following a win at this year’s ceremony.

Richard Hutchinson said, “We have had a fantastic start to 2014 and this award recognises the hard work and effort we as a team have put in to making us one of Northern Ireland’s leading sub contractors. It is great to be recognised on a UK stage for our innovation, focus on quality and commitment to exceeding customer expectations.

“We are now working increasingly with customers across the UK, in a range of sectors including coach building, materials handling, road transport, agricultural, medical and aerospace and will continue to deliver the same excellence and quality that the MWP manufacturing awards celebrate.”

The awards set up by MWP Advanced Manufacturing magazine in 1982 to recognise and applaud outstanding achievements in the industry, the competition has become an established highlight of the manufacturing calendar.

The MWP judges stated that, “Building any company is difficult let alone during recession however Hutchinson Engineering commitment to delivering quality products for clients is evidenced in their clear growth over the last three years.

“The company personfies all that is good in engineering where they’ve built long-term, mutally beneficial relationships. By using the latest technologies and investing in strategic collaboration Hutchinson Engineering has gained the competitive edge.”

Established in 1971 and the leading supplier of quality laser cutting and fabrication services has gone from strength to strength through a series of strategic diversifications which now sees it include specialist aerospace division Hutchinson AeroTech, H360 Ltd an innovative design engineering provider and Hutchinson Engineering one of the UK and Ireland’s leading subcontract laser and metal fabrication firms.

The company has swept the board over the past six months with Managing Director Mark Hutchinson recently being named IOD Northern Ireland’s Family Business Director of the Year and the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards Young Businessperson of the Year.
