Thirty engineers from the esteemed Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) were recently given an exclusive insight into Kilrea based company Hutchinson Engineering’s technical operations.

The mechanical engineers were given a first hand insight into the operations of the family run engineering firm, Hutchinson Engineering, as they opened their doors on the 22nd March to a select group of individuals. Attendees were given an exclusive tour of their expansive premises and Managing Director, Mark Hutchinson delivered a company presentation offering a further insight into the company’s capabilities.

Headquartered in central London, IMechE is an independent engineering society representing mechanical engineers. With over 111,000 members in 140 countries, working across industries including; railway, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, energy, biomedical and construction, IMechE is licensed by the Engineering Council to assess candidates for inclusion on its Register of Chartered Engineers.

Mark Hutchinson remarked: “It was a pleasure to invite members of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers to Hutchinson Engineering, some attendees travelled internationally to be here, which reflects very well on the Northern Irish manufacturing industry and its position worldwide.

“We try to maintain very close links with IMechE. Having this type of visit not only underlines our standing as one of the leading sub contract laser and metal fabrication companies in Northern Ireland, but it helps us communicate our capabilities to respected industry figures. By inviting the best people to tour our facility and take part in a Q&A, we are able to build on our existing knowledge base and pass on some of our experience to industry professionals.

Institution of Mechanical Engineers Media Officer, Ian Douglas said: “We want to extend our thanks to Hutchinson Engineering for hosting this event which was well received by our members.

"Hutchinson Engineering is no doubt one of the industry leaders here in Northern Ireland and this event was an excellent opportunity for our members to gain an insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes. Many delegates noted the professionalism of the presentation, the impressive work undertaken by the company and the ease and confidence with which Mark Hutchinson was able to answer questions.”
