Laser Components offer laser safety solutions: beam dumps and safety barriers

Laser Components specialises in the development, manufacture, and sale of components and services in the laser and optoelectronics industry, supplying a wide range of products including beam dumps and laser safety barriers.

Beam dumps

For anyone using lasers, no matter what the application, laser safety must always be of highest priority. For high power applications the first line of defence before laser safety curtains or eyewear is a beam dump.

Laser Components is pleased to offer a range of beam dumps suitable for different power levels: convection cooled aluminium beam dumps are rated up to 50W and are available in 0.75” and 2” aperture options, suitable for low to medium power applications. For higher power lasers there are water cooled dumps, rated up to 1000W with the option of a 2” or 4” aperture. Our beam dumps utilise a dual cone design, coupled with a special non-reflective coating, designed to eliminate back reflection. Furthermore they are designed to not reflect the beam outward, even if the non-reflective finish has been eroded by exposure, for safety and added peace of mind.

Beam dumps are available with or without a stand, which can easily be mounted to either a wall or optical table.

Free-standing laser safety barriers

Laser Components supplies a wide range of standard and custom laser safety curtains. There are situations however, that do not require such a permanent solution. For these instances, a free-standing laser safety barrier may be the answer. Laser Components is pleased to be working with Kentek® to provide a range of portable laser safety barriers. New to this line are the 5M collapsible barriers, available in either Flex-Guard™ Regular Power or Flex-Guard™ Plus Power, for laser protection rated at 100W/cm2 and 250W/cm2 respectively for 100s. The barrier is composed of just five major parts, and can be assembled in less than five minutes, perfect for when a temporary laser safe work area must be set up.

For higher power applications there is the Ever-Guard™ free-standing barrier, rated at 1200W/cm2 for 100s. Constructed from patterned aluminium, these panels use a special coating to help block, absorb and diffuse scattered and direct laser radiation. Ever-Guard™ panels are available with the option of an interlocked door and acrylic, laser safe viewing windows.

The free standing barrier range are constructed of welded steel frames with pivoting, glow in the dark cross braces, and can be used alone or to create a temporary partition wall when joined together with light blocking hinges constructed of the same material as the laser barrier. Free-standing barriers are available in a range of standard sizes, with custom sizes available upon request.
