Coherent completes acquisition of ROFIN
Coherent Inc. of Santa Clara, California (NASDAQ: COHR) announced on 7 November the completion of the previously-announced acquisition of ROFIN-SINAR Technologies Inc. of Plymouth, Michigan (NASDAQ: RSTI) for USD 32.50 per share in cash, in a transaction valued at approximately USD 942 million.
Coherent funded the acquisition with a combination of cash on hand and proceeds from a seven year 670 million Euro secured term loan. With the addition of ROFIN, ROFIN Rasant-Alcotec, ROFIN-Lasag, Dilas, Nufern, Corelase, ES Technology, Lee Laser, Nanjing Eastern Laser Co., Optoskand, PMB Elektronik, and PRC Laser (all ROFIN brands), Coherent now claims to have created the world’s largest laser company, with over 5,000 employees, 20,000 customers and over 100 locations across 40 countries.
