EOS founder inducted into 3D printing Hall of Fame

Dr. Hans J. Langer, Executive Chairman of the EOS Group and founder of EOS, the supplier of Industrial 3D Printing of metals and polymers, has been inducted into TCT Group’s Hall of Fame, following the publication’s inaugural TCT Awards, held at Birmingham Town Hall in September 2017.

A panel of independent experts, analysts, journalists, and academics selected the nominees, for the first time, with a public vote determining the eventual inductees. The Hall of Fame recognises individuals who have made a significant impact in either inventing or developing 3D printing technologies since their inception a little over 30 years ago.

James Woodcock, Head of Content at TCT Group, explains: "We launched the TCT Hall of Fame to recognise those individuals who have made a significant and lasting beneficial contribution to the 3D technologies industry.”

“Through a rigorous nomination and voting process, involving input from our Expert Advisory Board, and a free and open public vote, we are delighted to have Dr. Hans J. Langer as one of our inaugural Hall of Fame inductees.”

Dr. Hans J. Langer founded EOS in 1989, after a successful start in the laser industry. The company has since become one of the leading innovators in the space, spanning both polymer and metal industrial 3D printing processes.

Dr. Langer is also active in the leadership of a portfolio of more than 10 companies, and has been instrumental in driving developments across technologies, including pioneering metal laser melting and additive manufacturing.

“Hans’ contribution through his network of commercial activities — including EOS and SCANLAB — has been instrumental in the development of the additive manufacturing industry as we know it. I’ve been lucky enough to hear first-hand Hans’ story and his courage, dedication and business acumen makes him a deserving recipient of one of the first places in the TCT Hall of Fame." adds Woodcock.

Since the late 1980’s, Hans Langer has been at the forefront of the 3D printing industry, continuing to innovate as this technology becomes more mainstream
Commenting on his induction, Langer explains the gravitas of this award: “It is an honour to be recognised as one of the leaders in 3D printing, and I am delighted to be inducted into TCT Group’s Hall of Fame.”

“This induction is testament to the fantastic team I have had around me at EOS, and the talented group of people I’ve been lucky to work with over the last 30 years or so. Since the late 1980’s, I’ve been looking at ways to further this industry and show the potential of the technology on a grand scale, and EOS has allowed me to grow and develop beyond what I even thought was possible.”

It was recently announced that he will stay on as Executive Chairman of the EOS Group, following Dr. Adrian Keppler’s appointment as CEO of EOS GmbH. Dr. Langer’s focus will be on the direction of the EOS Group as whole, managing the strategic expansion and development of its global operations.
