Bystronic UK welcomed a record number of visitors - 158 - to its open house in Coventry, held from 19th to 21st March 2019. The theme of the event was 'The Networked World of Sheet Metal Processing', which mirrored the central feature on the Swiss company's stand at last year's EuroBLECH exhibition in Hannover.

Visitors learnt how greater efficiency of production in sheet metal laser cutting and bending can be achieved through the adoption of integrated automation and new software solutions. In this way, manufacturers can achieve a high degree of flexibility and transparency for manufacturing products in less time and more cost-effectively. Other benefits of the smart factory are faster quoting, adaptive production planning and cost optimisation.

Andrew Richert, Bystronic UK's sales manager said, "Due to the open house, we received two orders immediately afterwards, one for a pressbrake and the other for a fibre laser cutting machine with automation.

"We have progressed many other projects for stand-alone lasers and pressbrakes and also for an automation solution, in addition to which we received nine new enquiries."

Bystronic UK's managing director Dan Thombs added, "The encouraging attendance at our open house was a sign that UK manufacturing continues to be buoyant. There appears to be an appetite, especially among subcontractors, to increase competitiveness by investing in Bystronic's latest technical innovations.

"Until recently, automation and integration focused on OEM’s and mass production but increasingly, with our flexible automated solutions and software, users are able to produce small series items as economically as standardised, large volumes."
