KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

An experienced Engineer/Scientist to join a new cross-disciplinary team focused on developing innovative laser sources for additive manufacturing at II-VI. The position will involve definition, design and implementation of laser sources for Additive Manufacturing platforms leveraging proprietary II-VI technologies. Objectives include working with team members to build prototype systems and optimize parameters to demonstrate improved properties.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Engineering related field
  • 3-4 years of Additive Manufacturing experience in laser-based metal AM processes
  • Experience with design and building of systems desirable preferably powder bed laser fusion and direct energy deposition.
  • Practical experience with laser sources for LAM
  • Demonstrated ability to design, assembly and test optical systems for laser beam delivery for LAM
  • Practical experience and knowledge of techniques used for printed coupons characterization
  • Knowledge of in-situ sensing techniques for LAM
  • Knowledge and first-hand experience with major CAD software used for LAM
  • Understanding of Laser-Materials interactions
  • Understanding of Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to excel in a cross-organizational, cross-cultural, global team environment
  • Handle special assignments promptly and professionally
  • Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency
