Laser Lines forms strategic partnership with The Digital Manufacturing Centre

Laser Lines has formed a strategic partnership with the Digital Manufacturing Centre (DMC) in Silverstone, which will see Laser Lines install Stratasys Additive Manufacturing (AM) machines in the DMC’s live production environment.

The DMC is a sector agnostic digital production facility with a focus on engineering-led solutions. The first machine to be installed as part of the partnership is the Stratasys F770 – the first installation of the printer in the UK.

Mark Tyrtania, sales director at Laser Lines, said: “We are delighted to be working so closely with the DMC. It will enable our customers and prospects to see Additive Manufacturing printers in a live, digital manufacturing environment, which will help them to understand how they can be used for production parts within the whole digital workflow. The DMC has many customers in the automotive, aerospace and medical industries but the facility can and should be used by all market sectors.

“The collaboration also enables us to have an environment where we can highlight the benefit of AM and show Stratasys machines in volume production, printing real parts in a live environment, as well as giving customers the opportunity to ask questions of the engineers on site.”

From a variety of AM systems and materials, through to finishing and inspection services, the DMC has been designed from the ground up with full traceability throughout the entire production pathway.

Located at Silverstone Park, DMC’s 2,000-square metre facility has been developed alongside several industry-leading technical partners. The facility will be certified to AS9100.revD in early 2022 and uses PPAP (Part Production Approval Process) and NPI (New Product Introduction) practices. The facility offers a wide range of technologies including polymers, metals, carbons and silicones.

Kieron Salter, CEO at the DMC said: “We are bringing together world-class engineering with industry-leading additive manufacturing systems to solve the real-world challenges of our customers. Our partnership with Laser Lines is an integral part of this pursuit, providing us with state-of-the-art AM equipment backed by exceptional support and a spirit of collaboration.

“This new Stratasys F770 will be a significant boost to our FDM capability and capacity. We look forward to learning more about the machine and putting it through its paces in a live production environment.”
