Prima UK appoints new sales manager

2 March 2007 – Coventry-based laser cutting and automation equipment specialist Prima Industrie UK Ltd has strengthened its senior sales and marketing team with the appointment of Paul Downs as Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland.

With a 19-year pedigree of sheet metal machine tool sales backed by a wealth of welding and fabrication experience gained within the automotive and manufacturing sectors, Paul joins Prima with key responsibilities for developing sales of the company's profiling and multi-axis laser cutting and automation solutions in the Midlands and Ireland.

"Paul's appointment reflects our drive to increase company turnover by more than 30% within the next 18 months," says Prima UK's managing director Joe Attuoni. "I am delighted to welcome him to our team, as he has first hand experience of providing engineering solutions in several of the key sectors we are targeting for growth."

About Paul Downs
Born and educated in Coventry, Paul Downs specialised in sheet metal and thin plate fabrication following the completion of his engineering apprenticeship in 1978. A highly skilled sheet metal worker, he took up his first sales role with Coventry-based machine tool company Eckold Ltd in 1988. He subsequently held senior sales management roles with a variety of companies in the sheet metal punching, pressing, forming and profiling equipment sector, joining Prima from Italian machine tool manufacturer Salvagnini.

Married with two children and currently living in Rugby, Warwickshire, Paul Downs is a life-long rugby football fan. He is both an active player and coaches the Rugby Lions under 17 rugby football team in his spare time.
