Lantek Expert re-engineered for multi-processor computers

Lantek, the global leader in the development and supply of integrated CAD/CAM and ERP solutions for the sheet metal industry, has completely revised the architecture of its Lantek Expert II and Lantek Expert III systems. The software packages have been optimized and adapted to take advantage of the capabilities of computer equipment equipped with dual-core or quad-core processors, achieving increases in processing speeds of between 30% and 40%.

Lantek is committed to offering cutting edge tools for improving all the programming, business management and control tasks within companies in the sheet metal cutting and punching industries. Improving processing speeds for all these activities is in line with the company’s philosophy of providing cost saving and technologically advanced solutions to its customers.

Anticipating the needs of the market, Lantek has reinforced its pioneer status by developing powerful software solutions to keep it at the forefront of the industry. Lantek’s Research and Development department re-engineered the software to take advantage of, and maximize the performance of, the latest generation of computers, with particular focus on tasks which require intensive processing, such as part nesting.

The new architecture provides further advantages by optimising and reducing work preparation times which, combined with the faster nesting and machining, generates significant savings. Overall, the re-engineered software will improve quality and competitiveness, cut response times and reduce administrative costs, energy consumption and material usage, enabling users to provide a better and more cost effective service to their customers.

“The re-engineering of the Lantek Expert II and Expert III architecture has been an important challenge, as we can now offer a totally innovative product to the sheet metal sector. Once again, users of our system will benefit from the commitment of Lantek to research and development, an area where we allocate between 15 and 20% of our annual turnover", says Asier Ortiz, Development Manager of Lantek.

New and existing customers that opt to install the latest multi processor computer hardware will be able to benefit from the superior performance available in the latest version of Lantek Expert.

"The new architecture has enabled us to increase productivity and speed by at least 30% in processes such as machining and nesting. In the medium term, all processes will be optimised but, as we deploy the technology further, the enhanced performance will spread to all functions within the software,” continued Asier Ortiz.

This new development offers more flexibility and has been designed to give total compatibility of operation with third-party hardware and software, and easy integration with all of Lantek’s products. To achieve this required considerable research by a dedicated section of Lantek’s development team, which carried out extensive testing to ensure the high quality and reliable and correct functioning of the new software.
