Three new apprentices

Trumpf UK has become the first of the Group’s sales subsidiaries to embrace the modern apprenticeship training scheme. Working with engineering vocational qualification body, EAL, it has recently accepted three incredibly enthusiastic youngsters on the four year course. Joe Burton (20 yrs) and Nathan Osborne (19 yrs) attend Barnfield College in Luton. The third, Christopher Proudfoot, is based on the south coast and will complete his training at SETA – Southampton Engineering Training Association.

Announcing the introduction of the scheme at Trumpf UK, MD Hartmut Pannen said “I have no doubt that given proper financial support British manufacturing has the capability to pull the UK out of recession. However there is a real danger of a skills gap and I am therefore delighted that Trumpf is doing its bit to attract talented youngsters into engineering.”
