Outstanding flatbed design

Good design comes in very many forms but it’s not a quality often attributed to machine tools. Nevertheless trumpf stood shoulder to shoulder with companies such as sony and kenwood at this year’s if product design awards as a notable winner. The product that attracted this ‘design oscar’ was the trulaser 3030 new, the latest generation of the company’s highly successful flatbed laser cutting machines.

Introduced in 1954, the if product design awards regularly attract more than 2,000 product entries from around 37 countries with the best of them receiving an if seal of outstanding design quality.

A winner in the industry category, the trulaser 3030 new is characterised by its clean lines and ergonomic construction. It has a protective enclosure made from makrolon that is frameless and provides large folding doors to the machine operator’s area. The operating concept is also new and comprises a free swivel-mounted and tiltable, touch-screen panel and cordless keyboard. The pallet changer is perpendicular to the machine instead of being in parallel to it, reducing installation space by 20%.

A further important design feature of the trulaser 3030 new is its single cutting head. This allows the machine to process the entire range of sheet thicknesses with the same cutting head; with a 5kw laser, sheets up to 25mm can be processed.
