Trumpf wins coveted industry award

Luton-based Trumpf Ltd., the UK sales arm of the world-leading production and medical technology company, is the proud recipient of a highly respected industry award. Earlier this month it was judged the winner in the Best Forming and Fabrication Equipment class in the biennial Metalworking Production Awards.

The MWP Awards are devised to recognise and applaud outstanding achievement in the design, manufacture and use of production equipment and services. The awards ceremony itself was held during the MACH exhibition at the NEC, an event long established as the UK’s premier gathering for the advanced manufacturing sector.

Although Trumpf has won this and other MWP Awards in previous years, the 2010 achievement is particularly gratifying for the company as it broke new ground. The subject of its success was its TruLaser 1030 laser cutting machine for processing sheet metal.

“The thinking behind this was to create a machine that is easy to build, transport and install. It is also designed to be incredibly simple operate, even by someone without any laser cutting experience,” explained Trumpf’s Carol Vyse. “The functions resemble those of a CD player: play, stop and pause. The user selects the correct key intuitively.”

Such has been the incredible worldwide interest in the award-winning TruLaser 1030 that Trumpf has now created a dedicated website for the machine at www.laser-cutting-for-less.com.
